How Slick reads the market this week
Tuesday, and Nothing to Show You Yet
Start with the ugly part. The last seven days across all sports came back 0-7 on graded plays, minus 21.00 units. There is no framing that makes that look better than it is. What I can tell you is what did not change during it, which is the way plays get flagged in the first place.
The engine does one thing. It takes every soft-book line and measures it against a sharp anchor, Pinnacle, LowVig, BetOnline, the books that get moved by money rather than by handle from recreational accounts. When a soft book drifts materially off that sharp price, that gap is the play. Not a hunch about a quarterback's body language, not a revenge angle. A price discrepancy, sized, and either it clears threshold or it does not.
That is why Tuesday and Wednesday matter more than most people think. Early in the week is when soft books are slowest to catch up, when a number can sit stale for hours because nobody has bothered to hit it yet. The sharp anchor moves first. The lag is the opportunity. By Saturday morning that lag mostly closes, and what is left is picking through leftovers.
It also means posting numbers today would be malpractice. Anything I attach to a game on Tuesday afternoon is a different price by Wednesday night, and a stale number reads as a wrong number.
So no picks are named in this piece. None. Subscribers see a play the moment it actually clears the engine's threshold, live, at /picks.
